Tianyue Wu 巫天越

I’m an incoming PhD student at The University of Hong Kong, born in Lishui, Zhejiang. I am broadly interested in Robotics, Cybernetics, and Machine Intelligence.

I will work under Prof. Yi Ma at The University of Hong Kong and University of California, Berkeley. Currently, I am an intern researcher at Sharpa Robotics, and a concurrent visiting student under Prof. Masayoshi Tomizuka at University of California, Berkeley. I was fortunate to visit the research group of Prof. Jie Song at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, studying sim-to-real RL for in-hand manipulation. Before these, I worked with Prof. Fei Gao at Zhejiang University. I obtained my BSc from the College of Energy Engineering at Zhejiang University, mentored by Prof. Kuochih Chuang, who transformed my perspective on academia during a time when I hated school.

My current research focuses on advanced manipulation dexterity (foundation yet agile manipulation systems) with dexterous hands and humanoids. I’m particular interested in sim-to-real RL and video generation/generative world models. Previously, my colleague and I achieved sensorimotor precise aggressive maneuvers (to appear on Science Robotics as a Research Article) in aerial robots beyond human pilot’s capabilities.

I enjoy making friends, and following soccer and table tennis games. I’m also interested in hip-hop and k-pop culture.
